Aroara, a kingdom unlike others, for its beauty but not just the landscape. The royal family as well. They were a strange sort very kind but very much royal as well. They knew what was right and wrong and how to treat there kingdom. The people loved them and they loved their people. Damien the next king in the line up however did not quite fit the bill according to his family. He was not as ‘beautiful’ as the rest of his family though he looked very well off not to mention he worked with the knights a lot. He was well loved though by everyone as well because even though his beauty on the outside didn’t compare to the rest of his family at least in their eyes his compassion far when beyond it.

The palace lay in the middle of the city with giant white walls all around it keeping any dangers out. Outside the kingdom was just as lovely four large fountains stood at the four corners of the compass with water and flowers surrounding them, the whole city was a place full of life and prosperity for the time being. Many gardens and orchards covered the outskirts furnished by the castle to keep people in good food supply. The knight’s quarters were inside the wall along with the servant’s quarters. Though some servants lived in the actual palace. Those that were assigned to the different members of the royal family.

Damien did not have a servant at the moment, only a few months before the servant he was very close to met his end, it was slow and painful and Damien sit by his side the entire time holding his hand and wishing it to end sooner for his friend not for himself. Richey was his name and it took a full week before he met his end, now the prince had been without a servant to help him out for weeks. His parents requested he take someone else but he had thus far refused. At the moment he sit under a tree fast asleep. Unknowingly an assassin he believed to be his friend now far away.

For as long as anyone in the family could remember, the Shimizu family had lived in a distant country, under harsh rule. Then, in the newest generation, Shiro, the fourth child, traveled away to the kingdom Aroara in search of a job. Most of his family was supportive of his decision, but an equal amount disliked it. Upon reaching Aroara, Shiro easily found a few cleaning and maintenance jobs. They were all easy to do, and that was good for him. Shiro wasn't the strongest of boys, especially since he'd been raised in a household filled with mostly females; his only older brother was hardly around. So he was good at housework, even though it was uncharacteristic for males. After a while of working at random small jobs, he'd been found out by the royal family. Seeing his exceptional work, they immediately recruited him to work in the palace.

It'd been only a few weeks since Shiro moved into the mens' quarters, but he'd already gotten a pretty good feel for the place. Aroara was a much more beautiful country than where he'd grown up. It was easy to settle in: most of the other servants were kind and open, and even the knights were friendly to him. One knight in particular, though. It was the first day that he was working when he met Kay. He'd been cleaning in the palace and had managed to get himself covered in the dirt he'd cleaned off of the ground. To clean off then, he went back to the quarters and found the bath outside. He'd taken off all of his clothes before he heard behind him that someone else was there. He turned his head and looked at the sight before him. Kay was a tall, muscular man. He had short dirty blonde hair matched with dark blue eyes. The most embarrasing part about this was that Kay was fully naked as well, so Shiro could see every part of the man's body. He was startled by the size of the man's genitals, though; much larger compared to his own. He looked down and blushed before jumping into the bath water and sinking down into it. That was pretty much how it started. They weren't very close at first, but Shiro became more fond of Kay every single day.

On this particular day, now, Shiro was on duty cutting bushes and extra branches on trees. He'd managed to figure out how to do so, despite his lack of physical strength. He walked from bush to bush and trimmed a little around the edges. The gardens were well kept, so there was very little that needed to be done, but it was tedious. He'd gone about a quarter of the way around the palace, when he spotted the prince laying under one of the tree, asleep in the shade. Hesitantly, Shiro walked towards the sleeping prince. He bent down next to him and said, "My lord... I'm sorry, but would you mind moving for awhile? I need to trim the tree..." He reached out, but stopped a few inches from touching the man's shoulder, knowing very well he shouldn't touch royalty.

Damien yawned as his eyes slowly opened to look at the other who was requesting his waking. He stretched his arms out and looked toward the other. “Ah sorry, I shouldn’t be sleeping out here anyways. Though..” He looked up at the tree, “Do you really think it needs to be trimmed, I mean it makes such great shade for a napper.” He looked around at all the trees near by sighing faintly, some would bare fruit soon and he and his servant had often come out and picked it together. “Good work, sorry I was in the way.” He murmured as he took a few steps around looking for a trimmed tree to sleep under. He had nothing to do today and a nap in the sun always felt great.

The servant trimming the trees was new, he hadn’t seen him much but he always looked like he enjoyed the work, he at least hoped he did, he hated when the servants hated what they did. He stopped what he was about to do turning back to the servant, “Do you like your job? If not perhaps I can get you into something you would enjoy?” He smiled hoping to make some conversation.

Unknown to him someone came up behind him with a dagger, nearing slowly hoping neither of the two would notice. To kill the first born son of the king meant he would win many riches. He didn’t care he was betraying the king there were many enemies of him that would pay well if he made off with it. There were many on the borders that were just waiting for the throne to be in turmoil.

Shiro nodded then, pulling back his hand as he stood up. "I'm sorry, but I was told to trim all of the trees. I really can't decide which ones are and are not to be trimmed, my lord," he said, nodding to the prince as he stood. "Thank you very much," he said, bowing his head before he went about his work, reaching up with the cutters to cut down the extra branches. He hummed a little, watching the excess wood fall.

He was startled when Damien suddenly spoke to him again. He lowered the tool and turned his head to the prince. He smiled then, saying, "Yes. In general, I do, although a change of pace every now and then wouldn't be bad, of course." He continued about with him work again, before he asked, "But just out of curiosity, my lord, what kind of work are you talking about?"

Shiro paused again, looking back at the prince. He froze for a second then, seeing a figure walking forward towards them. He gave the figure an odd look just before he saw a shining object in his hand. Shiro quickly dropped the gardening tool and ran towards the prince, arms outstreatched, trying to push him out of the way. "My lord!"

Damien thought about this for a moment, “Perhaps something in the castle I’ve seen you work and your amazing. You work hard enough though some don’t try as much as you do.” He pondered this for a moment, “I think you would have a good time in the castle too, everyone inside is so nice and everything is so lovely, plus if you worked in the castle you get a nicer courtiers to live in.”

They didn’t live with all of the other slaves because they may be needed more often and got a section of the castle to themselves. The kingdom was very kind to everyone even their servants. The were given all the food and clothes they could ever want and given a pay every now and then to get trinkets they may need or want. Inside they also had nicer beds as well.

Damien’s eyes moved to the side and instantly turned him one arm around his waist the other spinning so he was facing the person now running toward them. Using his free hand he pulled a dagger, which extended into a spear and stabbed the other in the neck in a split second. A bit of blood splattered onto his face and the other feel dead. He looked down to the servant that had saved his life and released his arm from around him, moving his hair out of his face he kept his eyes on him. “Thank you…you saved my life.” His eyes grew soft and he smiled, “Perhaps you might want to work with me?”

It all happened so quickly. Shiro had managed to get to the prince to try to help, but was grabbed by the waist and held to the side. His heart stopped as he saw the prince's spear hit the other man. Shiro covered his nose and mouth to block out the stench. His eyes widened just a little, watching the man fall. He voiced a small gasp, as he watched the body hit the ground and the blood drip out of the man's neck. His breath became irregular and he turned his eyes away from the scene.

When the prince released his waist, Shiro inched away, not wanting to get in trouble for touching the royal family's son. He listened in silence as the prince thanked him. He nodded his head lightly as a sort of "you're welcome". The boy's head only shot up when the prince offered him a job. He held up his hands and said with a shake in his voice (the result of the trauma), "Oh... I really couldn't. I'm happy with what I'm doing right now. I don't mean to disgrace you my lord, but I really couldn't..." He shook his hands back and forth. His mind was really on Kay. He might not be able to see the knight so often then. He didn't want anything like that to happen, especially now that he was getting close to him.
